My Mentors

I've been blessed to have had the opportunity to learn
from the finest teachers in the world!

Here are some of the very best!

William A. Carter

Golf Professional

It all started 25 plus years ago for me when I first met Mr. Carter. He was one of the best High School players in the country. Growing up in Memaronck, NY he would walk up the hill to Winged Foot Golf Club and caddie almost everyday including for the likes of Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Gary Player among many others. Mr. Carter spent regular time around Tommy Armor, Craig Wood and Claude Harmon learning the intricasises of the game.

These experiences, along with the opportunity to grow up around the entire Harmon family were very special and were ones he cherished very much. I know that I will never forget the lessons learned under his tutelage. I was fortunate to learn many life lessons during the 12 plus years I knew him. He believed in me and taught me how to teach, and for that I will be forever grateful.

Jack Breno, PGA

Golf Professional

It's been 12 years now since I met Jack Breno, a 50 year member of the PGA of America. Jack is known as a pro's pro in the northeast's Metropolitan section. There is nothing better than having a person you can just sit down and talk golf swing with. Jack is a great communicator with a keen eye. Thank you for sharing your years of knowledge which has helped me learn the value of words and the power they hold. Your ability to quickly pick out faults and provide easy to understand fixes is just amazing. I have always enjoyed getting direct to-the-point answers from you.

Claude "Butch" Harmon

Founder, Butch Harmon School of Golf

In the spring of 2014, I attended the Butch Harmon School of Golf. For three days I worked with Butch Harmon directly along with his staff. This was an unforgettable experience! I learned invaluable bits of information about the golf swing. Some of which can be summed up here... Keep things simple and to the point and never stop learning from those around you.

Vic Wilk

Staff Instructor
Butch Harmon School of Golf

Recommended to me by "Butch" I have spent significant time over the last four years learning from Vic Wilk, staff instructor at the Butch Harmon School of Golf in Henderson, Nevada. I have learned the importance for simple and straight forward communication along with how the golf swing works to produce different shaped shots at varying trajectories. Vic is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Vic has been ranked the #1 Junior in the state of California and the first left handed player to win on the Nationwide Tour. He has mentored under Mac O'Grady, Greg McHatton, Hank Johnson, Paul Runyan, Stan Utley and Butch Harmon.

Don Callaghan

Staff Instructor
Butch Harmon School of Golf

Former assistant at Winged Foot and Head Golf Professional at The Country Club. Don tough me a lot about chipping and being creative around the greens. His ability to teach through story telling was amazing. I learned that taking a lesson could be like having a very interesting conversation.

Nick Helwig

Staff Instructor
Butch Harmon School of Golf

Butch Harmon Staff Instructor Nick Helwig has been mentored by Mr. Harmon since 2000. He has also spent extensive time on both the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour as a coach and caddie. Nick has won the accolade of Best Instructors by State from Golf Digest multiple times and America’s Best Young Instructors by Golf Digest. I have enjoyed learning from Nick’s simple and straightforward, business-like approach to game improvement.

Craig Waryan, PGA

Master Golf Professional
Top 100 Teachers in America

Craig has taught me alot about the teacher / coach relationship. I have learned how to hit more precise wedge shots and putts because of his coaching. His continued mentoring has helped me navigate my way forward within the game of golf. Craig is a two time Minnesota Teacher of the Year Award recipient and Hall of Fame member who teaches for Bird Golf.

Susie Meyers, PGA

Former LPGA Tour Player
Top 100 Teachers in America
2019 Southwest Section PGA Teacher of the Year

Thinking simply and being positive is Susie's approach to the game. Her focus on the mental aspect has opened my eyes to what is possible when you trust yourself, move without thinking, free your mind and play from Point "A".

Darrell Kestner, PGA

32 Time Major Championship Participant
Top 50 Teachers in America

Being able to watch first hand Darrell's ability to quickly identify and remedy a problem and show the student through video and drills how to practice has been invaluable. I've learned how to asses a students core issue and provide a fix in a short period of time.

Chuck Evans

Golf Digest Top Teachers in America
Golf Magazine Top 100 Teachers in America

Over the years I've learned a great deal from Chuck Evans. His vast knowledge and experience has helped my teaching and the development of my own game tremendously. I've enjoyed being able to ask questions and get answers as I continue to learn the key fundamental movements of the golf swing. I greatly appreciate his generosity and the continued opportunity to ask questions and learn!
